
The Service Leader Program (SLP), consists of alumni of the Inspiring Leaders Program 10th grade or higher. These students serve as general body members of Youth Action and use the skills they gained from the Inspiring Leaders Programs to consistently organize service projects throughout the year.
The Service Leader Program fulfills our mission of producing socially responsible and transformational leaders by reinforcing the skills that students have gained during their participation in previous Youth Action programs and providing students with consistent opportunities to serve their communities.
Youth Action’s Service Leader Program meets every 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month. During the third Saturday of the month, SLP member participate/organize volunteer service projects.

Service Leader Program members serve in the following ways:
Develop a Service Theme
Members develop a service theme for the year that captures the issue they wish to address during the service year. Past service themes have included – Violence Prevention, Teenage Pregnancy, Homelessness, College Readiness, and Literacy.
Gain professional development experience
Through workshops conducted by leaders/experts in various industries and fields, students receive mentorship and training in career, leadership, and service.
Meet and work with like-minded people
Our members are able to work with passionate and like-minded high school and college students from around the city to do service.
Service Project Planning
Students have many opportunities to volunteer and receive funding to organize up 6 different service projects in Philadelphia including our annual toy drive.
Community Service Accomplishments
Through our programs and events, students can receive at least 50 service hours for the year.
