We’re starting off this week with the #socialissuesspotlight of mental health in Philadelphia. One in five American adults experienced a mental health issue.
17.52% of adults in Pennsylvania have some type of mental health disorder, which is slightly better than the national average of 18.29%.
More than one of every five adults in Pennsylvania who seek mental health treatment does not receive care. The most common impediments to treatment are the inability to pay, lack of insurance, and lack of providers in the area.
