Member Receives Selective Teach for America Fellowship in Atlanta

Youth Action member Praise Agu, a new alumna of Bryn Mawr College, has received the selective Teach for America two year teaching Fellowship. She will begin teaching elementary schools students in Atlanta this fall.  Praise is an active member of YA’s Achievement List program which connects Philadelphia college students of color with service in Philadelphia.

Praise, an economics concentrator and Posse Foundation Scholar at Bryn Mawr, for several years served as President of the Bryn Mawr’s African and Caribbean Association (BaCaSO), Bryn Mawr’s Student Government Association, and Teaching and Learning Initiative. In addition, she has intern with the Harvard Graduate School of Education, State Street Corporation, and Travelers Insurance.

Praise aspires to become a dynamic teacher who inspires others to become strong leaders in their community. Such an ambition is certainly the Youth Action way!

Teach for America recruits individuals from all academic majors and backgrounds who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, perseverance and leadership in hopes that they become lifelong leaders in the effort to expand educational opportunity.
