Youth Action Co-Sponsors 15th
Annual Youth Summit
PHILADELPHIA, PA Youth Action, in partnership with Ray
of Hope Ministries, Inc., The Mt. Airy Church of God In
Christ, and Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco will host the
15th Annual Philadelphia Youth Summit: "Each One-Reach
One-To Teach One". The summit will take place at Mt.
Airy Church of God in Christ, located at 6401 Ogontz
Avenue, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 26,
2008.
The annual youth summit is a fun-filled
day including: Educational Workshops, Information
Resource Fair, Drill Team Exhibition, Basketball
Tournament, Drama, Dance and Musical Performances.
Breakfast, lunch and t-shirts will be provided free of
charge for all registered youth. Youth Action members
will make a presentation about leadership and the
importance of social activism at the summit. In
addition, Youth Action has asked The Food Trust to
participate in the summit to further the discussion of
public health and nutrition among youth, which coincides
with the organization’s two-year project about public
health issues.

participate in the annual youth summit with Ray of Hope
Ministries,” said Spokesperson James Jones. “The youth
continue to be an important forum for addressing the
concerns of today’s youth.”
Under the direction of Elder Larry Raye
of the Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ and Ray of Hope
Ministries, the summit has experienced a huge explosion
in growth and now serves over 1,000 young boys and girls

Youth Action is a not-for-profit community
organization founded in 2003 by alumni of the Tavis
Smiley Foundation and consists of young African American
teens and young adults aspiring for positive change in
their communities. What sets Youth Action apart from
many other community organizations is that aside from a
handful of adults who are involved, high school and
college students solely run the organization. These
ambitious and dynamic youth are committed to making an
effective change in their communities. Youth Action's

The Tavis Smiley
Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1999
by media personality Tavis Smiley to enlighten,
encourage, and empower youth by providing leadership
skills that will promote and enhance the quality of life
for their lives, their community and the world. Since
