Youth Action Stories

Brittany BottsWhat I like most about YA is that it’s a way for Black youth to take action against issues that they’re passionate about. YA gives you the necessary resources and moral support to do so. You are constantly around other black youth that positive and influence you to strive for success and outstanding leadership.

–  Brittany “Reeci” Botts

Youth Action is the only organization that I have become a part of in which the members became my family. Youth Action lives out our mission of doing service and bringing awareness to our brothers and sisters by approaching every event and handling every situation with an open mind. I’ve never felt more comfortable yet consistently challenged to be the best I can be and to understand the importance of service and community involvement, than I do with my fellow members of Youth Action.

–  Lauren Melendez

Youth Action gives me a chance to be more active than I am already. I like that our organization gives youth an outlet to really make a difference. As members of this team, we make time to do all of the organizing and work to create the resources. We set up the dates, times, and locations for everything we do. We draft comprehensive project proposals and plan each and every step in order to make sure that we’re creating the most impact every single time. And we’re always meeting outside of our meetings to talk about a project or ways that we can improve. I’m just glad to be a part of a team with some of my closest friends who just happen to be the most positive people and the biggest advocates I know.
