2015 Inspiring Leaders Program Closing Ceremony

Youth Action’s 2015 Inspiring Leaders program (ILP) Closing Ceremony “Always Remember to Inspire, Lead, and Serve” celebrated the accomplishments of our 2015 Inspiring Leaders program Cohort.  The May 17th, 2015 event held at the Friends Center was filled with awards, a video presentation of the year, and a reception to follow. Families and guests poured in to honor the students.

Students received certificates of membership as well as superlatives that marked several memories of their time in our program.

Director of the Inspiring Leaders program and Drexel University senior, Kristian Ogungbemi, described how joyful she was to work with the students this year and see their leadership growth.

2015 ILP Cohort member Yasmin Khan concluded the ceremony with the following remarks, “Everyone needs someone; and I needed a team. My “someone” was the Youth Action group, a group of brilliant minds, trying to change the world one small act of kindness at a time…through our group discussions and projects, I improved [my] skills, helping me become a more attentive individual. Listening was an important skill I was so glad to improve on.  It’s really important that I listened to everyone’s ideas so there would be a way to make everyone feel like they played a part in the team’s success.”This year, the students organized two projects. One project was a carnival festival for youth and families that raised over $400 for pancreatic cancer and the other project was a teen forum focusing on issues impacting youth today.

Youth Action wishes the 2015 ILP cohort the best of luck and success as new members of Youth Action.

The 2015 Inspiring Leaders program was sponsored and supported by Spark the Wave, The Philadelphia Activities Fund- Councilwoman Marian Tasco and AXA Advisors
