Junior Youth Action visits Johnson House in February 2015

During the month of February 2015, the students of JYA were able to visit the Johnson House Historic site in Northwest Philadelphia. While there they received a guided tour, where they learned about historic figures such as William Still and Henry “Box” Brown. The students were also granted the opportunity to see how abolitionists hid slaves in their homes, along with walking upon the same floors as Harriet Tubman as she led slaves through the Underground Railroad. The students had a phenomenal time touring the Johnson House and this was a great way to end our segment on Leaders in History.
