Today marks the 10th Anniversary of the founding of Youth Action. On August 11th, 2003 during the Tavis Smiley Foundation’s National Youth Summit at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. 7 students committed to starting an organization that would empower their peers to get involved with leadership and service in their communities founded Youth Action. Youth Action is a rare student-led (501)(c)(3) that is designed and managed by African American high school and college students in the Greater Philadelphia area. YA utilizes innovative events and programs to excite students to serve their community. To this day, more than 150 members of Youth Action and 5,000 students have been impacted by our service programming. Today, we ask that you join us in celebrating this milestone.
