Youth Action Named Non-Profit of the Year

Youth Action Wins Non-Profit of the Year Award by the African American Chamber of Commerce of PA, NJ, and DE!

Philadelphia’s Youth Action was presented with the prestigious Non-Profit of the Year Award on Thursday, October 29th 2020 for outstanding work in the non-profit sector and Philadelphia community.

The Annual African American Chamber of Commerce Meeting and Awards Ceremony has been a tradition within the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware communities for the last 27 years. Last year, over 800 leaders from across the City of Philadelphia joined the Chamber for its annual event. However, for the first time in the organization’s history, the AACC hosted its Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony virtually!

Hosted by Bill Anderson, Fox29 Multi Media Journalist and Anchor, this year’s event continued its tradition of honoring business leaders throughout the region that represent and support African-American businesses through economic empowerment and advocacy.

Now this year the Chamber opened up the selection process of three of its most important awards to be selected by its membership and the community as a whole. The 2020 Young Professional of the Year, Small Business of the Year, and Non-Profit of the Year honorees were all nominated by their peers and voted on by the community at large!

Anthony Phillips, Founder and Executive Director of Youth Action, accepted the award on behalf of the organization Thursday evening while expressing immense gratitude to the AACC and the organization’s supporters. Phillips continued by explaining the true purpose and mission behind Youth Action, and what their organization’s goal is for the youth in their community.

“Ultimately, what we do at Youth Action is that we train socially responsible leaders by providing leadership training, mentorship, and funding to help them organize leadership projects in their communities. So, with all of your support, we are able to activate youth activism, activate youth leadership, and activate change in Philadelphia because of this award. So, we want to say thank you so much to all of you who voted again, and we also just want to say: Youth Action, keep inspiring, leading and serving.”
